Bit Bit wanted some protein for breakfast, and had a craving for japanese food. There was some chicken breast in the freezer, and Bit Bit got an idea. Bit Bit decided to make Oyakodon.
The making of oyakodon took about 20 minutes.
Things that Bit Bit found out about Oyakodon:
- Oyakodon is a yummy and healthy dish, as there are protein, fibre and carbohydrates. In addition, no oil is required.
- Oyakodon has both chicken and egg, which literally means "parent and child" rice bowl.
- Bit Bit feels that this dish is not only suitable for adults, but also for children.
Ingredients that Bit Bit used for Oyakodon:
- Chicken Breast - 80gm
- Onion - 1/2 Large Whole
- Egg - 1 Whole
- Mirin - 1 Tsp
- Light Soy Sauce - 1.5 Tsp
- Water - 120ml
- Granulated Dashi - 0.5 Tsp
- Cooked Rice - 1 Bowl
Method that Bit Bit used to make Oyakodon:
- Peel the onion and cut the onion into small wedges, and set aside.
- Cut the chicken into bite sizes, and set aside.
- Crack the egg, beat it lightly, and set aside.
- In a pan, add mirin, light soy sauce, water and granulated dashi, and bring to a boil.
- Add in the onion wedges into the pan, and simmer till onion tenders.
- When onion begins to tender, add in chicken and simmer till chicken is cooked.
- When chicken is cooked, add in beaten egg and swirl the pan continuously till egg is cooked.
- Turn off the heat.
- Pour the cooked dish on a bowl of rice.
- Serve and eat!
